Waterway Restoration Volunteers |
Waterway Recovery Group (WRG), UK wide. WRG runs week-long residential volunteering opportunities, known as ‘Canal Camps’, to restore the derelict canals of England and Wales to their former glory. A chance to do your bit whilst having a fun holiday. They had 28 Canal Camps planned for 2017 giving volunteers the chance to get involved in various activities. Most run for seven days, each volunteer is asked to contribute £70 for the week for accommodation and three meals a day. Most accommodation, which is best described as basic, is in sports centres, schools or village halls. Anyone is welcome, but they must be over 18. No previous skills or experience are required. Partners want to schedule refurbishment of 30,000 houses and transform the wellbeing of these households over the next 3 years to contribute to the “Well North” pilot on which reformation of the NHS will be based. £15k stipend and paid tuition.
