School Gardens on show at Arley Garden Festival
Lots of primary schools exhibited their amazing gardens, displayed in raised beds, at this garden festival on 25th and 26th June 2011. Here's one. there are more on Flickr here. Unfortunately not all are pictured as I didn't get there before dismantling. |

Cheshire Wildlife Trust run a number of activities –
for families, (check their What’s On page),
Family Forest School at The Quinta Nature Reserve east of Holmes Chapel or Moore Nature Reserve on the Mersey west of Warrington,
Nature Tots at Marbury, Moore and Thornton-le-Moors,
and Wildplay at two venues in Warrington.
Cheshire Wildlife Trust family members are eligible for their Hedgehog, Kestrel and Nature Ranger Awards which allows children to earn stickers and an Award badge when they take part in activities exploring nature and wildlife.
CWT also run bushcraft parties at Marbury or The Quinta, for groups of 10 to 15 children. 3 hour parties cost £15 per child.
Bewilderwood Cheshire opens “Book your family adventure to run WILD in the woods now”, for school holidays and weekends from 19th February, and everyday for the season from 2nd April. They’re at Bickley Hall Farm (home of Cheshire Wildlife Trust), sout of Tarporley. Bookings taken from 12th January 2022 on https://cheshire.bewilderwood.co.uk/
Superworm Trail to open in Delamere Forest, 4th February 2022. Discover the small but mighty creatures in the much-loved story and learn about the everyday heroic feats of minibeasts in the forest. https://www.forestryengland.uk/delamere-forest/superworm-trail-delamere-forest

Wilson Alwyn Bentley, a Vermont (USA) farmer, captured images of snowflakes in the days when photography was young. He devised his own camera setup, using splints, turkey feathers and a black board to make magnified (69 to 3000 times) images on photographic plates.

Nature Detectives is run by the Woodland Trust has loooaaads of downloadable information and games (try the Trump Cards for Fungi!), a bird food cookbook, and more. There are even templates to design your own worksheets/playing cards/bingo/wordsearch. Some of the games require parental help regarding software. See their website.
